NPG is working in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council to support schools with their procurement of goods and services. One example of practical support has been the introduction of a dedicated telephone helpline service offering advice and guidance to schools in respect of their purchasing.
This advice service is free to North Yorkshire County Council Schools, with schools merely paying for the cost of the telephone call. To access the Helpline Service for procurement guidance dial 01609 533457.
Another is the provision of a procurement professional whose primary role is to work directly with and support the Children´s and Young Persons Service. Part of that support will be the production of a procurement guide specifically aimed at school personnel. The guidance will contain and highlight the following principals:
- Step by step instructions to obtaining quotes;
- What is available elsewhere;
- Collaborative and cluster purchasing;
- Awareness of sustainability;
- Specification drafting;
- Using standard Terms and Conditions;
- The tender process for purchases over £50k;
